\r\nSometimes you can get rid of it by putting some ethanol on a Q-tip and cleaning the tach. I set the machine to move back and forth at 50IPM or so, so that the tach\'s spinning relatively slowly.

Fadal put out a supplement on macros, which I have a copy of. It\'s not scanned yet, so hopefully someone here has an "e"-copy they could email you, or maybe post here. It has examples and is very helpful.
\nBoth Neil and Able were always very helpful to me in the past.

Bingo, that\'s why I joined this Forum, to share information within the Forum. It makes me a better machinist/engineer. I\'m not making money off this hexagon-software/forum per se, I\'m making my job skills better. You give you take, as needed.

Forums normally split regular Joes from the business people whom they require to be sponsors, who can then pimp their business. \nIf there is a hydraulic counter balance or a lock/brake of some kind, this should be checked.
\nIf hydraulic counter balance is used, often both ends of the cylinder or closed causing hydraulic lock, if the seals leak, this will cause it.

\r\n \r\n Just looking for ideas on a good sealant that you\'ve come across for the enclosures. the white stuff from Fadal is junk. I\'m using a sealant from loctite now and its pretty good but is there something else you\'ve seen the works good. I use a semi synthetic coolant.
\r\nAlso have you seen any way covers that are better than stock Fadal? Mine are always falling off,springs stretch out, all due to rust.\r\n \r\n

I rebuilt a 4020 about 3 years ago. I was advised to use Sika 1-A . Polyurethane sealant. Zero issues to date. Great stuff. IMO,silicones are not a good choice. The blue stuff is especially prone to coolant swelling. There is only one that has proven to be oil proof IMO and that is the gray silicone made or sold by loctite and permatex. Use the Sika 1A and you will not have to redo it again.\r\n \r\n

\r\nhave you ever encountered a problem like this one before? we can\'t find any fadal specialists in our area (mexico just south of texas) and the machine is just inoperative 2 years and counting, we\'ve had 4 diferent "technitians" come check it out but they couldn\'t fix it and just won\'t return our calls aymore.

\r\nThe machine is a fadal 4020 cnc88 and it has that weird problem in the video, i\'ve tried replacing all cards except the cpu from the card cage, i tested them on a fadal 3016 and they worked normally on that machine as well as the amps for it and the parts from the 3016 in the 4020 show the same results, also i swapped the power supply but it\'s the same. it has glass scales on "x and y" axis and unplugging them made no diference, also one motor was sent for repairs and another one was swapped from the 3016 to this machine for testing but no luck, could you suggest what to look for next? could a wire harness cause this issue?

A brief history:

I worked at Fadal as an engineer for over 23 years. When service technicians were unable to fix problems out in the field, I was called to go out and fix the problem. In 23 years, I have never left a machine down in the field (thank God).

Since the Fadal plant closed earlier last year, I have started my own company repairing and selling parts, as well as rebuilding and servicing machines.

As a courtesy to all CNC Zone members, I offer free technical support over the phone and through email. Even if you have limited technical knowledge, most of the time I can help you diagnose your issue by walking you through it.
