IBARMIA Z SERIES: Flexible and Powerful Solutions for Modern Machining Needs


IBARMIA's Z SERIES represents a benchmark in moving column machining centers, offering flexible, high-performance solutions for a wide range of industrial machining applications. Designed and manufactured in Spain, the Z Series is renowned for its modularity, allowing customers to configure the machine that best suits their production requirements—ranging from 3-axis to advanced 5-axis solutions, with a broad variety of table options, spindle powers, tool magazines, and automation capabilities.


The Z Series is particularly well-suited for the machining of medium to large-size components in sectors such as energy, transportation, capital goods, and aerospace. Key to its appeal is the concept of a moving column architecture, which ensures a rigid structure, long-term accuracy, and superior accessibility for operators and automation systems.


New Generation of Z Series – Bigger, Faster, Smarter

Unveiled at EMO Hannover 2023, the sixth generation of the Z Series introduces major advancements in design and functionality:


  • 20% Larger 5-Axis Working Area: The most important improvement of these new ZVH MULTIPROCESS and ZVH EXTREME machining centers is the 20% larger work envelope for 5-axis machining. By optimizing the spindle assembly, the new models offer significantly more usable space—accommodating longer and taller workpieces while maintaining the high load capacity of 2,000 kg/m².
  • Enhanced Tool Change Concept: A redesigned side-positioned tool magazine allows tool exchange during machining operations, thanks to a decoupled transfer arm. This minimizes downtime and eliminates interference with the work area.
  • Faster Dynamics: The stiffer and more efficient moving column now accelerates 30% faster, contributing to shorter cycle times and improved productivity.
  • Improved Ergonomics & Maintenance: Lower table height and consolidated pneumatic/hydraulic access make operation and maintenance easier and safer for users.
  • Reduced Footprint: The overall width has been reduced by 500 mm, simplifying both machine installation and transport—without compromising capability.


True to IBARMIA’s DNA, the new generation remains fully configurable, with spindle types, tool capacities (60 to 120 tools), and special customizations available to meet the most demanding machining challenges.
