In 1989, Sandvik Coromant AG developed a 1:20 tapered double contact system under the brand name CAPTO®, which is shaped like a triangular polygon.
Cone-shaped polygons are close-fitting and prevent radial clearance, making them an ideal surface for turning.
Standardized since November 2008 according to ISO/DIS 26623 standard for “Polygonal conical interfaces with flange contact surface”.
