The Institute of Welding and Joining Technology (ISF), Aachen led by Univ. -Prof. Dr.-Ing. U. Reisgen, is one of the famous Labs of #Aachen University, which conducts extensive research in the field of Wire Arc #Additive Manufacturing. Within the #cooperation between ModuleWorks and the ISF (Mr. Rahul Sharma, Department Head Lichtbogenschweißen) on the analysis and process layout of WAAM processes, ModuleWorks Application Engineer Ruturaj Shilimkar was invited to develop his Master Thesis at RWTH Aachen. The #thesis was supervised by Mr. Lukas Oster on behalf of Prof. Reisgen and Lothar Glasmacher, our Head of Additive & Process #Technologies as Institute external supervisor.
A connection between #innovative tool path planning strategies and various aspects of the WAAM process during the deposition process, was the main focus of the thesis. With the newly developed #toolpath patterns, Ruturaj Shilimkar was able to build up accurate thin wall structures and junctions within WAAM #applications.
ModuleWorks is happy about the good cooperation between the Aachen University in Research and Development, to verify new innovations in Toolpath planning and #Robotics together with the process experts at the ISF.
