Integrated measuring system ensures exact travel
For over ten years, SCHNEEBERGER GmbH has been developing the compact, integrated displacement measuring systems AMS für their monorail guidance systems and thus sets a standard in terms of accuracy, design, installation, adjustment, operation and maintenance. Depending on the AMS version are different interfaces to all major controls available. The absolute Measurement system AMSABS can recently also communicate directly with the DRIVE CLiQ®1 communication protocol of Siemens and all Mitsubishi controls.
In demanding mechanical engineering, quiet, low-vibration and low-friction linear
traverse movements are indispensable. This applies für applications in measurement, semiconductor, bio and
medical technology in automation as well as in the machine tool industry,
laser processing and many other industries. SCHNEEBERGER provides an optimal basis for this with its
high-quality monorail guidance systems. With its AMS magnetoresistive measuring system, which is
available in various versions, the Swiss company also has suitable solutions ready for high demands on precise
length measurement.
The MONORAIL AMS 3B, for example, is an integrated magnetoresistive measuring system based on
the MONORAIL MR roller profile rail guide. This integration results in compact
structured axes with displacement measurement and guidance, which are particularly suitable for use in
tool machines. For the user, the additional assembly and adjustment of the
measurement system is eliminated; he saves costs in the design, manufacture and maintenance of the machines.
In addition, the accuracy and process reliability of the machine benefit from the use of the AMS 3B.
The analog version AMSA 3B, which offers a voltage interface of 1 Vpp for connection to
all common controls, is the starting point for the digital version AMSD 3B. This
provides a digital incremental interface that allows different resolutions to be
referenced and the system to be adapted to controllers with different input frequencies.
For the MONORAIL BM ball rail system, SCHNEEBERGER developed the integrated
magnetoresistive AMS 4B measuring system. In terms of measurement technology, it corresponds to the AMS 3B and thus offers
the same advantages in terms of assembly, cost savings, accuracy and process reliability. AMS
4B products are preferably used when there are high requirements for
travel speed and the dynamic properties of the axes.
The MONORAIL AMSABS finally is an integrated magnetoresistive measuring system with absolute
interface, which is based on the aforementioned measuring systems. It adds further
features to the proven advantages that simplify the operation of displacement measurement systems in industrial environments. For example,
due to the absolute displacement measurement, the reference run after switch-on is eliminated, which leads to time and thus cost savings during operation.
The AMSABS has an absolute interface for connection with SSI, SSI+SinCos and
all Fanuc controllers. Recently, the Siemens DRIVE CLiQ®* and the
Mitsubishi interface have been added. The Siemens DRIVE CliQ interface is certified according to SIL 1.
The latest development in the field of integrated magnetoresistive measuring systems from
SCHNEEBERGER is the MONORAIL AMSA 3L, which is designed for the construction of particularly long axes on
the basis of the MONORAIL MR roller profile rail guide. However, SCHNEEBERGER also offers an integrated length measuring system for combined
guiding and measuring in the smallest of spaces
With the AMSABS 3L, SCHNEEBERGER has developed a unique measuring system. It is
suitable for use in particularly long axes, but at the same time has the advantages of absolute
measurement. This means that the system knows the
exact axis position even after the machine has been switched off and on again. In the future, large machine builders will therefore be able to
integrate absolutely coded measuring axes in extreme lengths. The decisive factor here is that the AMSABS 3L is mechanically based on the roller guide
MONORAIL MR and its special design of the rail support, in combination with
the AMSABS 3L read head, allows it to travel over rails without signal loss. Various options
referring to lubrication and sealing of the measuring carriage also enable optimal adaptation
to the requirements of the application. As a control interface, SCHNEEBERGER provides the absolute
interfaces SSI, SSI+1Vss and Fanuc with different cables. Translated with DeepL
