I'm looking to make (or have made) something to cover the Z axis on my Emco F3.

The width is around 185mm, the depth of the dovetail is approx 15mm. Z travel is 350mm, and there would be at least 50mm space when the knee is fully raised (allowing for a vise etc)

The covers on the X axis are some type of vinyl/fabric, pleated with a stiffener at each pleat.

All suggestions are welcome.

I did one using a car roller blind on my bench top Mill. I changed the fabric for some 0.5mm thick rubber sheeting. Roller attached under the head, rubber is flush against the column, stays taught as the head moves up and down. Never gets in the way.

I have no pics on phone to post atm. Search G0704 roller blind mod in Google. Should show up so you can kind of get the idea.

Got to a pc for a pic of mine in its early days. Gives you a rough idea. Should be workable on a knee.
