Best Part off tools for 32mm machine

We have 12 Swiss machines up to 20mm and have always used Iscar Do-Grip part off tools. We are bringing in our first 32mm machine and I would like to know what part off tools you use on your 32mm machines. What tool and what width.

Also we will be putting HP coolant on this machine and would like it if the part off had built in coolant holes since the sub spindle frequently blocks flood coolant from getting effectively to the cut on part off operations. Thanks for any help.

Re: Best Part off tools for 32mm machine

Hi Ohbeewan1! Saw no on answered yet so wanted to give you our 2 cents on what we have gone with on 32mm Machines just to give you a little more info:

All the Swiss Machines we used to see were all 20mm and under but lately we are seeing a lot more 32mm, 38mm and 42mm machines and it's awesome to see that much capacity in a Swiss! Initially the tooling was behind but now there are plenty of options for the larger capacity Swiss Machines. We have found 2mm Width is the way to go on the 20mm and under machines but you should step up to a 3mm width for the 32mm and up machines. The extra strength of the 3mm width makes a big difference in insert life (also, we generally always go with a Neutral Insert for strength in the larger Swiss Machines).

You are smart to go coolant thru with the high pressure coolant! My go to is Kyocera, their KGD Cutoff System is designed for the Swiss so it will fit into your machine with no clearance issues and they do offer coolant thru (there are 2 ports on the side of the holder and a port on the back as well so you have options). It sounds like you will be cutting off on the main side so RH would be the way to go but if you are cutting off on the sub then LH is available as well. Here is what we would recommend (Usually the shank size on 32mm Machines is 5/8" or 16mm so a 5/8" RH is linked below for info):
    Holder: https://www.toolhit.com/products/tht05527
    Inserts: https://www.toolhit.com/products/tlc10530
    Brochure: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/c...CTM-Series.pdf (Page 10)

There are a lot of options for this now so check out other manufacturers as well, we have just had really good success with this system so we wanted to give you the info on it.

Hopefully this info helps a little!
