ATO VFD with 110V in and 220V output

I just ordered a Mechatron 0.8kw, 230V air cooled spindle and have a hard time finding a VFD for it. I am in the US and bought the spindle in Germany.
They suggested to use an Omron MX2 0.75kw with this spindle, but I can find one here in the US. I looked at Hitachi (wj200-007sf), but was told that it wouldn't work with this spindle.

I planned to use a step up converter (1500W 110V-220V) for the VFD/spindle since I have been using an Alfred Jaeger spindle with this setup for years without any problems.

Today I came across a 0.75kw ATO VFD,( model EM15-SP1S1-d75) with 110V single Phase in, and 1ph/3ph 220V output. To me it sounds like this will work in my setup, but I cannot get it confirmed. I've contacted ATO but have not received a reply.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Re: ATO VFD with 110V in and 220V output

    Hi,
I've been using the exact same Mechatron spindle for over ten years. Simply brilliant.

I use an 750W Delta-B VFD. You need a step-up transformer so you have 230V for whatever VFD you go for. A VFD does not step up the voltage, so your spindle will never get to its top
speed with only 110V input. Is your house not wired with two phase?. In which case you have 220V available between the two phases.

Can't imagine why a Hitachi W VFD would not work, they are bloody good VFD's. If someone hands you the nonsense line about 'vector control' you know they are full of it!!
V/F is perfectly adequate, I've been using it for ten plus years, no complaints.

    Thanks for the reply.

ATO got back to me this morning. They actually went online and looked up the spindle before replying
They said it will work, but advised me to go with the 1.5kw VFD because of loss of power. I just ordered one.
