Need you guy's input.
We need to get some type of machine in our shop that will handle Drilling and milling. I assume a Vertical Mill will do the job here.
We have been out-sourcing a particular aspect of something we fabricate to a local machine shop. (We are a metal fabricator) The problem is, we are ordering these in batches of 1,000 now and the labor from the shop is going to be 10,000 bucks.
At that price, could I cost justify getting a used vertical mill in our shop?
Any suggestions on horsepower rating and brands? I had some experience on mills back in college, but none other than that... I think we had Bridgeport mills back then...
