A new NC measuring device complete with high-performance control system ensures greater flexibility and rapid operability for the vertical bandsaw LPS60T from Behringer.

The compact longitudinal plate saw LPS60T from Behringer GmbH is a variation of its tried and tested specialist series which is ideally suited for wide-ranging applications in fields such as tool making or test cutting, and for small parts and blocks. The LPS60T also makes fast, tidy work of cutting materials with difficult machining properties.

All this is made possible by an electronically controlled traversable table which securely accommodates the material to be cut. The table is mounted in backlash-free bearings with linear guides, with positioning by means of a spindle and servomotor. The solid “C” design of the machine bed and the fixed sawing frame make for torsion-free and vibration-free cutting.

The standard bimetal or carbide bandsaw blade is driven at 4 kW and runs over wear-proof band wheels. All blade guidance elements are made of vibration-damping grey cast iron.

Both the plate saw and the NC measuring device with a cutting depth tolerance range of 0.5 millimetres are controlled by a reliable BT65 programmable logic controller. The ergonomically designed control panel is fitted with a modern touchscreen and a self-explanatory symbol-based menu system. A new optionally available CNC controlled measuring device enables regularly recurring tasks to be pre-programmed, providing greater flexibility for every-day machine operation.

The bandsaw blade can be simply and quickly changed within just a few minutes without the need for tools. An electrically powered coupled-motion chip brush synchronized to the belt speed keeps the blade clear of adhering chips – a substantial benefit when it comes to maximizing the blade service life. The machine is fitted as standard with a cooling lubricant system for feeding emulsion, with the option to mount an additional environmentally friendly micro-dispensing device.
