About Brightlands Materials Center
Materials of the 21th century
Polymeric materials protect our food in a safe way from being spoilt and thrown away. They make cars lighter, so they emit less carbon dioxide or have a longer range. They conserve energy by insulating our houses or guiding light into our solar panels. They provide in-body implants to improve our health, they deliver drugs to the right place and at the right moment.
At the same time plastic packaging designed for single use has resulted in incredible amounts of waste, dramatically impacting nature and in particular sea life. Degradation of plastic products into tiny micro-parts is threatening animal life. This poses an enormous responsibility to come up with more sustainable and circular solutions.
Brightlands Materials Center wants to contribute to a sustainable and healthy future by applying its extensive materials knowledge to the development of innovative and well designed new applications meeting industrial and societal needs.
Our Mission
Brightlands Materials Center develops innovative materials solutions for a sustainable future, with inspired talents and in collaborations with industry, academia and entrepreneurs.
We are inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular Goal 7 Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities, Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and Goal 13 Climate Action.
