This is specially interesting when the cut blanks are going to be reprocessed by laser cutters or plasma torches. The FAGOR stretch leveler has many technical advantages that make of this machine the technical reference in this kind of processes. Moreover, it can be included in a Cut-to- Length line working in continuous mode.

Tension levellin consists of subjecting the strip of sheet metal to a traction force sufficient to exceed the yield stress of the fibres making up the material, combining this lengthening with simultaneous deformation of the strip caused by intermeshing of the levelling rolls. It is this combination that distinguishes tension levelling from traditional levelling in the so-called multi-roll levellers, with improved flatness being achieved. The entry and exit bridles and the intermediate roll leveller are at the core of the installation. The traction bridles are normally equipped with 2, 3 or 4 rolls, depending on the traction required for levelling. The traction bridles allow very high strip traction to be obtained. Within the individual configuration, each bridle is driven by an electric motor, and the leveller is located between the two bridles. For soft or thin materials, one set of levelling rolls is sufficient. However, for materials with a high yield stress and for thick metals, the levelling process is more efficient when two sets of rolls are used. The levelling beams may be of 2 or 3 different heights, depending on the material to be processed. For delicate materials such as galvanised steels, tin steels or aluminum and thin metals, it is preferable to use levelling beams with 3 heights. The process may be either wet or dry.

Die Spotting Presses are used in the manufacturing and verification of dies and molds. Their dimensions are defined according to the die or mold to be proved. Generally speaking, the required force is lower than in try out presses or production presses as their task is to check the contacting surfaces between the upper and lower parts od the die, rather than producing parts.

Spotting Presses have very exigent characteristics in regards to guiding and stopping position as it is mandatory that the cutting punchers of one side damage the other side of the die.

Molds are less exigent in guiding and column guides are normally used. However, it is recommended to add tilting devices in both slide and bolster in order to improve the ergonomy of the skilled workers who are fitting the mold.

The main feature of servo-driven presses is the elimination of the inertia flywheel and its replacement with direct coupling between the main drive motor of the press and the slide movement transmission.

Hot forming or press hardening are processes of forming metal allowing making high strength parts through a quick quenching of boron steels heated above 900 degrees.

A typical hot forming line includes a blank destacking device, a furnace, a hydraulic press or servopress as well as all the other surrounding components that guarantee the full automation and Process control (temperature, artificial vision, etc.)

FAGOR reversible rolling mills guarantee high productivity, with speeds of up to 2000 m/min and quick roll change, automatic load feed and control by computerised process modelling. Our half-a-million ton per year range rolling mills provide the best performance-to-price ratio on the market. The rolling mill stand has spraying and drying ramps on both sides, and its geometry makes it a highly compact unit with carefully-studied implementation. The main elements of the rolling mill stand are as follows: working cylinders and chucks with a specific diameter for each application; back-up rolls and chucks; clamping cylinders with integrated hydraulic actuators on the roll stand with incorporated position transducer; pumping units with hydraulic actuators to generate the “bending” of the working cylinders; cutting line wedges, which are the mechanisms that keep the line running at a constant speed. They also include spraying systems with fume extraction. The control system includes the following functions, among others: recoiler tension regulation; automatic flatness measurement and control system; automatic thickness measurement and control system; speed synchronism and inertia compensation.

The temper mill or skin pass mill, which may be of the stand-alone type or in-line, enables improvement of the mechanical characteristics and surface quality of the metal. The skin pass process causes permanent lengthening of the strip, orientating the grains in the direction of the strip, which has a positive effect on many of the metal’s mechanical properties. This improves the drawing process, as the plastic deformation obtained eliminates metal creep on the edges of the elastic deformation areas, this being the deformation that generates imperfections on drawing. The so-called creep zone is also eliminated. Similarly, the skin pass mill is able to notably correct the flatness defects caused by hot-rolling. The working rolls provide the material with the desired surface quality, as regards both roughness (Ra) and peaks per inch (PPI). Roughness application is the final strip rolling process and is therefore definitive and defined by the requirements of the end customer, and it is vital for the various subsequent processes (painting, etc.).

Temper mills are equipped with an uncoiler and recoiler, a centring device, entry and exit bridles, anti-crimping rolls, a two- or four-high stand with quick roll change, bending blocks, cutting height adjustment, hydraulic pressing and a control system with a computerised process model. Wet skin-passing may also be performed.
