inventor83, have you used leadscrews or ball screws on your cnc router? I don't think it's fair to compare the two. 200ipm or 1200" per second is great for travel and jogging, but I have never milled...
Oh wow, the runout of a Dremel will kill your project. Look at something/anything with a better spindle like a Proxxon IB/E, Bosch Colt.
Travels at 40 inches per minute are just tolerable on my 18x7.5" router. 60ipm would be nice, but I'm not a production shop so I live with it. Cutting speeds are dependent on your spindle, depth of...
That's some imagination :) Try rotating the drawing 90 degrees CW and what do you see?
The smaller the tool the faster it needs to spin. 16K to 20K RPM. Have you tried running 2 passes? The second on is used to clean up the edges.
You meant 0.1mm right? You are tearing the copper, not cutting it. Your tool is too dull, and you depth of cut may need to be reduced as well. Also, what type of spindle, runout can cause some...
Update: I needed to make some updates to the build file to add in the compiling so that the Main.class file would reflect the changes. The fix #1 works.
Here is what I am using for the .build file...
My Java is rusty, do you mind recompiling the .jar file with the fix? In the meantime, I'll try to wake up some brain cells.
Update: I installed JDK 1.7, installed WinAnt and recompiled new...

I tried your software this past weekend Marcus, I got an error message from Mach3. "Line too long"
This is the offending line at the top of my modified gcode file:

When you say "print circuit boards" what do you mean. Most DIY project use a chemical etch process, in this forum, we use a mechanical etching process. When I read your post I'm imagining silkscreen...
If you are going low cost, do not sacrifice the spindle. Kress or Bosch Colt (what I use) would be a good first choice. I have also used Proxxon IB/E but it doesn't like long sessions. I have to...
Wow...this is a very high-level professional job. Thanks for sharing.
Is the intent to "roll your own" or are you more interested in having a PCB mill that you can use to make your own PCBs? For Nema17 I would look at the the Pololu stepper motor drivers and work on a...
Here's one Romaxx CNC Router HS-1 machine a CNC workhorse | Romaxx CNC Router Systems
Can't speak for Makerbot stuff, never used it. Didn't realize you already had the reprap motherboard, forget what I said.
Hua, look at the RAMPS or Rambo Reprap motherboards. Also look at the free and open source tool chain of Slic3r and Pronterface. The path Dan has taken is for CNC machine owners that want to add 3D...
I use the Colt as a PCB milling spindle and it works fine for 0806 parts. But the Colt is around the same price as the Proxxon IB/E (I have that one too) so how much is a GMR?
So the time required for a job depends on the size of the area, diameter of the bit, material, machine. I know little about your machine so if you are talking 5 hours, I'm imagining a tp speed of 10...
Or, you could cast some new ones. Amazing putty plus some Alumilite and you could pour a new one as needed. Requires you have a good cover to start with.
One correction, it's RAMPS short for RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield.
Photos please.
I don't have this machine, but based on your description:
* Could be the Z axis is loose allowing for slop/movement when the resistance of the material is too high.
* Could be that the router bit...

Yes as long as you meant 0.06" plate
I use a 5 gallon frosting bucket from the local supermarket. Might have to ask the barkery manager, but when Schnucks was here, they would put them for sale for a $1. Has a nice silicone seal.
Also, please test the code way above where it may crash into the table should the code not be right. I use different code and don't see any use for a double touch. You may want to change the F...
Why bother with a double touch?
If you really want it though, try:
