Well it is definitely ok in Rhino, maybe looses something in the translation.

Here is a better way, use 2 spheres, create your wave shapes and extrude them through both spheres.
Split both the spheres with the surfaces, then split the surfaces with the sphere pieces, then...
The combine the "Project" with "Offset Surface and "Loft the edges. Here is a quick example.
