have you turned the axis to its full extents? I would suspect if a belt was bad there may be areas where it is worse. I think you can see the belt by removing the cover on the rear.
I believe you...
Also found an o-ring in the turret that’s very skinny. All the seals will be replaced. I’m also going to clean up the seat for the check valve
<Bump> Any resolution to this? I have the same problem with a CHNC 4 that is caused by the check valve upstream. I replaced the Clippard valve and the problem did not go away. I am expecting some...
I use a shuttle express for a Centroid based mill. It does a good job. At $60 US they are somewhat disposable. My first one died after 7 years but I had bought two. My interest iwill depend on the...
I am collecting air control info in a google album HERE
I would be curious to know if the solenoid and shuttle valve is common to Hardinge machines using air operated turrets
I'm going with a centroid ALLIN1DC controller for a Hardinge CHNC 4 retrofit. Centroid has done a lot of work on Hardinge machines and the support is forum based; not perfect but OK. My current...
I have a Trico device that came with the mill - I never used it and now 10 years later I'm thinking about hooking it up. It has two 120v solenoids that are kluged to turn on with a switch. My problem...
The reason I ask is that probably, like many,my J325 has been retrofitted ...twice. The other day I noticed that on the control cab there are a couple holes where there may have been a switch; my...
Do you have a tool inserted? I went through a situation that caused me to remove what seemed to be a binding spindle and when all was said and done there was no problem...when I had a tool installed
I would be interested in hearing about putting the gibs back in and adjusting them. Did you measure backlash before and after? How much do the gibs affect backlash? Did you re-ball both axes?
I removed the spindle and inspected the bearings - maybe the top bearing had too much grease, so I wiped off the excess. The spindle bearing feel fine the top bearing feels fine and I removed the...
I've gotten the Centroid Acorn installed and as I try to hook up the VFD I'm finding that the spindle is very stiff. I'll do some further investigation but I may be taking it out to inspect the...
Have you checked for anything loose in the drive train? Pulleys etc. How is the backlash on X
If your machine releases the tool on low pressure...RUN. My tool holder won't release with low pressure.
When I can't hear the air leaks I'll know I have low pressure, in the future I may need an Ether board. 9-)
When you say it appears to be a standard quadrature encoder I assume that's based on the signals shown. I call it a pulse generator because that's what Fanuc calls it on the label , it's just there...
Thanks Machinehop5. I saw wire 258 . So that device is there to monitor air pressure...with limited I/O that wire may not get connected ot I could wire in a light...
I've been spending a lot of time climbing on my mill. When I did my first retrofit there were a lot of items/wires left unconnected. Now I have gone through and identified many of the unknown/unused...
My J325 has a Fanuc spindle motor with a pulse generator, I am wondering if it can be connected to my Unidrive for closed loop vector mode.. Based on the photo it has A A/ B B/ com and 5 vdc...
Thanks, I came to that conclusion. It is possible to remove the bearing plate at the front of the screw- behind the gear, and the ball screw turns without moving the table and moves freely, like it...
Do you know if Campbell Design is still around? I don't seem to find them
It is my intent to re-ball my screws but after removing the bely on the Y axis I found that my Y-Axis, on a J325, is very tight. It moves but nowhere near the ease of X or Z, both turn easily by hand...
I have one - it's currently installed I'm not sure of the version number . There is a designation SL1001-R1
For questions specific to upgrading the J325 I will concentrate on another post HERE https://www.cnczone.com/forums/tree/419146-software-forum.html
I've started to order parts to do a second round retrofit. The original retrofit used a Campbell design BOB, Gecko G320 servo drives and was driven by Mach3. It worked ok but when I put it together I...
I started ordering parts for Retrofit 2.0. Going with DMM AC servo kit and Centroid Acorn. Will start a build thread since I have some items I need help with... off tofind an old serial cable -...
I'm wondering if CAT 5 cable would bo ok to use...

I decided to open the X axis encoder to see if I could find out what was wrong. I found the COM wire disconnected. I removed and replaced all the wires - I'm only using 5V, COM,A and B. The...
