What were the recommended settings originally?
I would think that'd be in the ballpark of 3000-3500rpm and a feed rate of somewhere around 60ipm. For stepover I'd go 75% and leave a spring pass...
This may be really basic, but for some people it might help. I was looking at multiple schematics to set this up, and decided to compile them into one schematic.
This is the board wiring for...
I have a C41 hooked to a C10 on my G0704.
I want to have the ability to control CW/CCW rotation, and RPM.
Do I need to use both relays/wire them seperately?
93 Views and no opinions on this? Did I stump everyone? :drowning:
Picked up a CNC Mill. It's a Grizzly G0704 conversion. I switched out the board on it because it had the smooth stepper setup for Mach 3.
I have a C41 Variable Speed Control board, and Kelling...
K, think I've got er squared away. The highlighters list above plus the connections you mentioned Ger21.
Here's a pic of the back of the head with the white cabling that's coming from 6/7 on my...
Makes sense. I can get 1-4 there, no worries. Just out of curiosity though, pin 5 on the DB9 in the controller has a blue wire from it. 1-4 takes care of the limits. What would 5 possibly be for?...
So DB9 INPUT on my control box is connected to a small DB9 breakout board on my mill.

All of the blacks from my limits are in 1.
2, 3, and 4 are the other wires from the limit...
Yeah, it doesn't make things easier.
So here's where I'm at.
I think the C41 board and controllers, estop and AC wall wart are done. Can someone who knows about this tell me if I'm on the...
Forgot I had this pic. I'm gonna just backengineer where everything was in here and match it up. Should be set.
Thanks!

As stated ger, this aspect of this machine is foreign to me. I'm looking for information about the wiring, not discussions about my knowledge on the subject.
No different than people who come to...
EMERGENCY STOP AND 5V POWER SUPPLY
I have a RED and BLACK wire coming from the Emergency Stop, as well as a RED and BLACK wire coming from the small AC Power Supply in the box. Where do these 4...
Hi everyone.
Since my last post I have gotten rid of my cheap chinese breakout board and purchased a real CNC4PC board.
So I have wiring questions again.
Pictures don’t really do as well...
Makes sense, and that's where they will go. :D
Please guys, I know this is dumb, but dumb this stuff down for me. I didn't build this mill and don't know much about this hardware at all.
On...
USB SmoothStepper + C25 board ESS
This board was in the controller box of my mill when I purchased it.
I'm switching to a C10 paralell board for Linux CNC.
In like new condition,...
I know it's not a CNC4PC board. It's just what came up on Ebay when I searched "C10 CNC Board".
If it doesn't work I'll order a CNC4PC board.
Unless it would be easier to just order the...
I'm kinda asking this pre-emptively.
I'm just getting rolling on welding up my 5x10 plasma table frame. I'm hoping to be doing the water table next week and getting the gantry built.
Once...
Okay, I'm swapping to a C10 so I can use LinuxCNC.
I've got the e-stop and the step/dir from the C25 that was on the smooth stepper swapped over.
Now I need to wire from 9 pin input and the...
Ah, I read the first part and responded. My mistake. Yes, they are a closed loop past the controller, correct.
https://www.teknic.com/products/clearpath-brushless-dc-servo-motors/
Complete closed loop systems.
This is correct, and it's one of the things that I like about their system actually.
More good info. This forum rules. :D
I've been reading up on the 7i76E. Definitely looks like a cool piece of gear.
Yup. Found one and placed and order. I'm gonna pull this smooth stepper and the mated C25 board and sell them I think since I'll never need them.
Makes sense. As if now I'm running steppers, but will swap to the clearpaths in the future.
As it turns out I was misinformed. I took the cover off of the controller box today, and found that it IS NOT a gecko G540 system.
Here's what I actually have: High-Torque Stepper Motor, Stepper...
I should mention, the Tecnik Clearpath Servos for X Y and Z are the ones I'm talking about swapping to.
At this point, what would I want to keep from the previous system?
Do I need to...
Good info.
An A/C spindle motor with VFD is something planned for in the future as well as the servo swap on x y and z.
