About German Edge Cloud
As a specialist in innovative edge and cloud solutions, German Edge Cloud (GEC) ensures that data in networked environments is available quickly, easily, and securely. The company supports process optimization using data analytics, in the manufacturing industry for example, and guarantees its customers full data sovereignty for connections to the public or private cloud. GEC is a developer and service integrator for turnkey solutions and offers both proprietary and industry-specific systems.
The company is a subsidiary of the Friedhelm Loh Group and has already implemented its solutions at the Industry 4.0 plant of its sister company Rittal in Haiger. In cooperation with industry and research partners, GEC develops solutions that are simple and quick to deploy, enabling customers across industries to solve digitalization challenges more effectively and achieve a new level of digital value creation.
GEC acts as a developer and service integrator for turnkey solutions and offers both its own and partner-specific industry-specific systems with the right mix of edge, private, and public cloud.
As part of the Friedhelm Loh Group, GEC draws on the industrial know-how and high-quality edge hardware of its sister company Rittal. This means that the solutions can also be used in harsh, demanding industrial environments. The use of ONCITE at the Rittal factory in Haiger allows GEC to draw on a wealth of experience, identify the typical hurdles and special requirements of the manufacturing industry – and to understand what is really important.
German Edge Cloud integrates and operates hybrid private edge cloud infrastructures from Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to Platform as a Service (PaaS) and industry-specific applications in the Software as a Service (SaaS) model.
As a founding member of the GAIA-X project, German Edge Cloud is aiming to create interoperable platform solutions with lock-in minimization from the customer’s perspective. The edge cloud data center ONCITE has so-called GAIA-X-compliant connector software and is intended to promote the development of a secure European data infrastructure when used by customers.
