The Remscheid-based company Wilhelm Becker has deep roots in the Bergisches Land, an important industrial region between Cologne and the Ruhr area. The uncompromising commitment of a medium-sized family business and the high level of dedication of experienced

In the 1830s, Johann Daniel Becker began manufacturing screws and thread taps.
Since 1867, the company has been called ‘Wilh. Becker - Werkzeugfabrik’.
After the Second World War, Gottlieb Wilhelm Becker rebuilt the destroyed factory in Kronprinzenstraße with just one employee and started producing thread taps again in a 200 m2 space.
Through the merger with Lothar Härtel's trading company ‘Ernst Birgden HAHNREITER Präzision’ in 1974, the company Wilh. Becker acquired its now world-famous brand name ‘HAHNREITER’.

In 1990, production was relocated to the new ‘Auf dem Knapp’ industrial estate. From an initial 1,800 m², the production area grew to 3,450 m² through two extensions. The relocation of the administration and finished goods warehouse to a new modern building at the production site in 2014 further optimised work processes. The company, now in its sixth generation of Becker family ownership, has been operating under the name ‘Wilh. Becker GmbH & Co.KG HAHNREITER Gewindetechnik’ since 2015. The introduction of a new company logo reflects the modern orientation of today's company.
For many years, Wilh. Becker has been offering services in the field of various grinding technologies. In 2012, Schweißtechnik Remscheid GmbH & Co.KG was founded, which carries out friction and flash butt welding work on a contract basis. The company, which was also managed by brothers Wilhelm and Christian Becker, is also located at ‘Auf dem Knapp 34’.
In January 2025, Niklas Harzer took over the management of the company and is now positioning it for the future while maintaining its traditional values.
