"Hauberg meets high tech"

On paper, the four companies GIB mbH, pmdtechnologies ag, QOSIT Informationstechnik GmbH and TiSC AG, all based in Siegen, have been affiliated since mid-2016. Now, the foundation stone was laid to unite them under one roof as well: In the industrial park Martinshardt in Siegen the companies are growing together to form the largest high-tech centre in South Westphalia. The construction works for the project started at the end of August. The foundation stone was laid on 20 October 2017.

The four Siegen companies GIB mbH, pmdtechnologies ag, QOSIT Informationstechnik GmbH and TiSC AG have made it their business together with the Essen sensor manufacturer ifm electronic gmbh to play an important role in shaping the fourth industrial revolution. This cooperation is founded at an unusual location: An office and laboratory building for 400 people with the possibility of expansion to 600 is being erected in the new industrial area Martinshardt with a good connection to the motorway. It provides much space for the growth strategy of the affiliation of currently 300 people. The building provides more than 13,000 sqm of above-ground office space on five floors as well as an expandable car park with about 295 parking bays. The project is planned to be completed in the first quarter 2019.

The new building consists of a lower ground floor on which three comb-shaped structures are arranged. The façade with large transparent surfaces provides a bright and friendly working atmosphere. On the ground floor there is not only the spacious modern reception area but also a staff restaurant, a small gym for the staff as well as workshops, laboratories, conference rooms, a computing centre and state-of-the-art clean lab suites for chip development at pmdtechnologies ag. In the upper floors there are offices. The draft of this imposing, modern building was made by the Hamburg architectural office NENTWIGNOTBOHM ARCHITEKTEN, the general contractor is the project developer KÖLBL KRUSE GmbH from Essen. The company OTTO QUAST Bau AG from Siegen acts as general building contractor.

The name of the new building is "The SUMMIT“: on the one hand, this refers to the unique location in the heart of the Siegerland region. On the other hand, it also refers to the high level of the technical developments taking place at this location. The new high-tech location is to become a place of excellence in IT, Industry 4.0 and sensor technology.

"This new building in the heart of our home region does not only give us the chance to cooperate, work, develop and expand better in future, we also see it as a clear commitment to the region. For us, "Hauberg meets high tech" means that we add a touch of Silicon Valley to this unique region and increase the appeal of Siegen as a location of innovation and employment", says Dr. Bernd Buxbaum, chairman of pmdtechnologies ag.

"This building and the people who will work here stand for stability and future. Stability as a high-growth element of the South Westphalian economy and moreover for a successful future of the location Siegen as a strong pillar of the region: high tech, Industry 4.0 and software engineering with more than 400 highly qualified people.“  says Nadine Rahman, Chairwoman of TiSC AG "We will set new benchmarks for the cooperation and the workplace of the future."
