Simple and flexible gripper for cobots

Simple and flexible gripper for cobots

The SCHUNK EGH Co-act gripper enables particularly easy entry into the world of cobots. With its adjustable overall stroke of 80 mm, the EGH covers a particularly wide range of workpieces. Control via IO-Link allows for the finger position to be individually defined, and for the gripper status to be evaluated for each gripping process. Parallel kinematics ensure constant gripping force over the entire stroke, while no compensation in Z-direction is required during programming – a distinct benefit compared to grippers with shear kinematics. The individual status of the gripper can be indicated via an integrated LED light band, enabling smooth interaction between humans and robots.

The starter kit enables fast and simple entry

The Plug & Work-capable module can be pre-assembled as a starter kit with a suitable interface and URCaps plugin for Universal Robots cobots. Commissioning and programming are simply and intuitively done within 30 minutes. Different workpieces and geometries can be gripped quickly with the flexible fingers and exchange inserts. The EGH Co-act gripper is ideal for all applications in cells with a protective fence or for applications where there is no direct overlap between human and robot workspaces (coexistence). Typical fields of application are handling and Pick&Place tasks in clean and slightly dirty environments such as in the automotive and electrical industries, or in metal-cutting companies. The EGH Co-act gripper in size 80 is standard and can handle parts of up to 0.5 kg at a dead weight of around 1 kg force-fit gripping. Up to 3 kg form-fit clamping is possible. For collaboration types where human and robot work together directly, such as sequential collaboration, cooperation or reactive collaboration, SCHUNK recommends the certified EGP-C Co-act gripper for small components or the powerful EGL-C Co-act long-stroke gripper.
