About us

Founded in 1888 as Spinnereimaschinenfabrik SEYDEL & Co. for the manufacture of machinery for processing and spinning of flax as well as other plant hard fibres, Seydel nowadays is the leading company in the production of stretch-break converters for acrylic
tow and preparatory machines for other synthetic fibre polymers.

In the mid-1930s – with the invention of polyamide – Seydel developed the first stretch-break converters. At the end of 1966, it was decided to stop the production of machines processing sisal, hemp and jute in order to fully concentrate on the stretch-break converter market instead. Since then, Seydel has successfully contributed to the development of the tow-to-top
processes first and tow-to-yarn processes later – with the multiblender and integrated
drawing frames. Seydel has installed more than 2700 stretch-break converters worldwide, especially in Europe, USA, South America, Africa, Middle and Far East including China.
Seydel’s tow-to-top converters are suitable for all types of tows available on the market and
their high quality and strength level rendered the Seydel brand famous.

Join us on a journey through time and take a look at the different machines developed
by Seydel – starting today and going back to the beginnings.
