About Sigma Technology
INNOVATIVE VERTICAL MACHINING CENTERS FOR INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS
Sigma has been successfully active as an international manufacturer of innovative vertical machining centers since 1950.
State-of-the-art SIGMA 3-/5-axis machining centers feature the highest flexibility, maximum precision, high performance and major productivity. They are used in many sectors including automotive, aerospace, precision mechanics, medical engineering and mold & die making.
ADVANTAGES AND HIGHLIGHTS
HIGH-PRECISION VERTICAL MACHINING CENTERS WITH THREE OR FIVE AXES
Sigma vertical machining centers are characterized by their universal field of application. They were conceived for machining small and large workpiece series on five sides in a single setup.
Vertical machining centers from Sigma provide specific performance characteristics that emanate from the so-called SIGMA DNA. This combines a massive wealth of ideas, experiences and innovations which Sigma has to take into account during each product development.
The SIGMA DNA includes a work table traveling along the X-axis to ensure the highest precision and quality of machined workpieces. A specific structural design ensures outstanding machine stability and allows full utilization of spindle torque.
All motor spindles and swivel milling heads are designed in-house by Sigma. Tool magazines are structurally independent of machine movements. Tools can therefore be easily and safely tested and changed without interrupting the machining cycle.
A sensor system integrated at strategic points on the machine reads temperature changes during machining and uses CNC to compensate temperature drifts on the spindle and linear axes. This ensures consistently high precision and position repeatability.
