First turn of the spade for termotek expansion: More production capacity with a new site

Work begins on 19 June in Baden-Baden / Trebling of the production area to 3,600 square meters / Optimised operations for even more efficient production

New site and trebling of the production area: termotek GmbH is expanding its capacities in Baden-Baden in its twentieth year as a company – the first turn of the spade at the Wörnersangewand industrial park is on 19 June. The new building for the specialist in compact liquid recooling systems are the company’s response to continuous growth. In this connection the key focus of the company, which is part of the technotrans Group, is on energy efficiency and process optimisation aspects. It is planned that the work and complete relocation will be concluded in the second quarter of 2019.

“The new site will make our production fit for the future because we will not only be streamlining our processes but making our production more resource-efficient as well,” says Peter Hirsch, Managing Director of termotek. Compared to the old site, termotek will be trebling its production area to 3,600 square meters and will also have additional reserves for expansion for administration and production. The total investment sum for the new buildings is in the region of nine million euros.

Production needs to be expanded in response to continued growth and the economic success of the company in the globalised market for cooling systems. The site therefore meets all the necessary requirements in terms of size, infrastructure and potential for expansion. “The deciding factor in favour of the site and hence for the erection of the new production facility was the considerable know-how of the staff in the field of customer-specific cooling technology,” adds Dirk Engel, spokesman of the Board of Directors of technotrans AG.

Lean production and sustainable construction
The integration of new production strategies will secure termotek’s long-term competitiveness. These include optimised production operations and an improved material flow, along with shorter processing times and the resource-efficient deployment of personnel. “The new building and accompanying streamlining of production in the interests of lean production are also a statement about our claim to be a leading technology provider in the field of compact liquid cooling systems,” underlines Hirsch.

Thanks to the comprehensive energy concept, termotek will be able to use its resources far more efficiently in future. The new building will feature a water-to-water heat pump with a recooler, floor collectors and cistern. This will enable the company to distribute energy on demand. The energy required for checking the cooling units can be stored, for example, and subsequently used for the air-conditioning of the building. Conversely it is also possible to use the heat from the surroundings for heating the test load. This reduces the level of energy consumption compared to the smaller existing building by about two thirds. In addition, the new building also fulfills the energy level requirements for a KfW 55 energy efficiency building, which therefore means that the company is eligible for loan finance for investment costs eligible for subsidy.
