VOLLMER will be presenting two new machines for the first time at the trade fair for metalworking in Hanover: The VHybrid 360 grinding and erosion machine and the VGrind 340S grinding machine. At stand F66 in hall 6, visitors can see the products and services offered by the machine constructor for themselves. In addition, VOLLMER will use EMO as an opportunity to speak with partners, particularly about the V@dison digital initiative that was launched at the beginning of 2019.

At EMO 2019, the highly visible roof with VOLLMER logo will show the way to the Swabian sharpening specialist. VOLLMER sharpening machines for rotary tools and circular saws for the metalworking sector await you, united under this roof. VOLLMER has allocated a separate area for each business area and aimed for transparency and a clear overview when redesigning the trade fair stand. This year's appearance at the trade fair focuses on two new sharpening machines and the topic of digitalisation.

Sharpening machine for grinding and eroding
The VHybrid 360 grinding and erosion machine will be launched at EMO. The sharpening machine allows for the combined machining of drills, milling cutters or reamers made of carbide and PCD (polycrystalline diamond). Tool manufacturers can either completely grind or erode blanks using the VHybrid 360, regardless of whether these consist of sintered PCD or soldered-in diamond plates. Multi-level machining via two vertical spindles makes this possible: The upper spindle is reserved for grinding, while the lower one is designed for grinding and eroding.

Producing delicate carbide tools
The VGrind 340S grinding machine, suitable for machining even the smallest carbide tools, will be presented in Hanover for the first time. Drills and milling cutters with diameters of 0.3 mm or larger, which are in high demand in automotive manufacture,
the electronics industry or medical technology in particular, are sharpened using the VGrind 340S. The VOLLMER machine also features two vertical spindles. Five perfectly harmonised CNC axes achieve perfect interpolation with short travel distances for the linear axes and swivel ranges, which in turn reduces the time required to machine workpieces. Solutions for automation, such as pallet magazines or free-arm robots, ensure that machining can continue unattended around the clock.

Systematically taking the digital approach
Under the new trade fair roof, VOLLMER will not only be providing information about its sharpening machines for machining tools, but also about the service packages on offer for maintenance, training and financing. Another focal point is the V@dison digitalisation initiative. VOLLMER has set itself the objective of developing Industry 4.0 solutions. Networked machines enable tool manufacturers to optimise their production processes via IoT platforms (Internet of Things). With the four topics of V@ screen, V@ check, V@ boost and V@ guide, VOLLMER is covering the entire value-added chain within the digital IoT world.

When it comes to the topics of Industry 4.0 and IoT, VOLLMER is also in close collaboration with the VDW industry association and other machine constructors in order to advance standardisation. At EMO, VOLLMER sharpening machines will be part of a demo installation by the VDW, which controls data exchange on the basis of the umati standard. The standard, which is based on OPC UA, networks machine tools from different manufacturers.

"At EMO, we would like to speak to our customers and partners so that we can more intensively deal with their requirements," explains Dr Stefan Brand, CEO of the VOLLMER Group. "Especially with V@dison, it is about driving digitalisation forward together with our partners from the metalworking industry. In our opinion, uniform standards like umati, as well as interfaces and analysis tools, are required so that tool manufacturers can network their machines regardless of manufacturer."see the products and services offered by the machine constructor for themselves. In addition, VOLLMER will use EMO as an opportunity to speak with partners, particularly about the V@dison digital initiative that was launched at the beginning of 2019.
