Hydroforming press

The moulds for manufacturing hydroformed components are typically operated in hydraulic presses, which are supplemented by a corresponding water hydraulic unit and the associated control system. The hydraulic press serves here as a hold-down device for the mould. By reason of the variable pressure profiles in the tool, which want to force the mould’s halves apart, a controlled hold-down device is in most cases indispensable. By reason of the high pressures inside the mould, presses with high hold-down forces are usually required. The mould design, too, has to take due account of the high pressures involved, so as to ensure the requisite useful lifetimes.
