Trade fairs bring business to life.
Global Exhibitions Day on 7th June 2017
The international trade fair industry is participating in the second Global Exhibitions Day on 7th June 2017. This worldwide campaign is launched under the motto of “Think Global, Act Local” by the Paris-based Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) is planning to hold an expert forum entitled “Trade Shows as Innovation Hubs – Science to Business” at the Technical University Berlin. AUMA’s partner here is the Trade Fair Working Group Sciences, an association that promotes the transfer of technology and knowledge as well as self-marketing of universities at trade fairs throughout Germany.
The forum will feature talks on how trade fairs transfer expertise and research results to business. Dr Peter M. Steiner from the Max Planck Society will deliver the keynote address. Leading specialists in business and communication science will give additional talks on the relationship between trade fairs and science, on start-ups and academic spin-offs, and on the role of trade visitors as innovation scouts. Round-table discussions will be held in the afternoon to exchange information and develop new ideas and strategies.
The forum’s target group are the personnel of technology transfer institutes and organisations, employees of exhibition organisers and industry associations, and representatives of academia and ministries of science and research.
In addition to this expert forum, AUMA will be increasing its communications this year on the topic of innovations at trade fairs. On Global Exhibitions Day and beyond, its website (www.auma.de) will be presenting facts and figures on the importance of innovations in fostering the aims of both trade fair exhibitors and visitors.
The goal of Global Exhibitions Day is to raise worldwide awareness of the trade fair industry, which plays a major role in promoting international trade and economic growth. Last year around 60 countries participated in the event – from Brazil to Thailand and from South Africa to Sweden.
