Intuitive multi-touch application for profile or measurement projectors

With the M2 measurement software, Dr. Heinrich Schneider Messtechnik is setting new standards in handling and precision for the manual measurement of geometric parameters using a profile or measuring projector.

Inspired by smartphone and tablet applications, an intuitive multi-touch application has been developed that can be learned in a minimum of time. The software impresses with a clear user interface – without hidden sub-menus. Measured elements are shown true-to-scale in the partial view. Designs and relations are created by simply touching the measured elements in the plot. Comprehensive tolerance checks of the elements to DIN/ISO and clearly structured data protocols are also integrated.

The M2 measurement software naturally also supports an optional edge sensor in order to achieve even more accurate measurement results, or the use of a foot pedal (optional) for recording of measurement points or as an enter key for calculation of an element.
Creation of the measurement programmes

The measurement routine is automatically saved in a programme. For repeat measurements, simply press the "Programme run" button and the measurement starts. A graphic interface guides the operator with direction arrows to the stored measurement points.

This concept had the highest priority during the development of the SAPHIR 3D measurement and analysis software. The implementation capability into the complete range of multisensor measuring machines, workshop microscopes, optical measurement devices and measuring and profile projectors and the complete integration into existing environments vouch for the high flexibility and adaptability of SAPHIR. Since 1983, the software has been continuously optimised by our development team to meet the changing demands of the market, and new functions are integrated with great far-sightedness. SAPHIR is today one of the most widely recognised products for this field of application. The measurement software certified by the German Federal Institute of Physics and Metrology (PTB) impresses with its clear structure and simple operation. Thanks to its structure, SAPHIR is extremely reliable, highly flexible and offers multisensor capability for universal application.
Cost reduction thanks to multisensor

The detail determines the precision of the whole system ? but for the rational measurement of the detail, the choice of the right measurement sensor is absolutely crucial. The SAPHIR 3D measurement and analysis software was designed to meet these demands from the outset and uniquely permits the use of a wide range of sensors in one software package. No matter whether you have to measure coarse of finely toleranced, matt or polished, bright or dark workpieces, the right sensor is available at all times. Black/white or colour camera for incident light and transmitted light measurement, programmable LED sector incident light illumination, tactile or scanning probes (alternatively with swivel head system) or a high-precision measuring laser are the elementary preconditions for purposeful and cost-optimised use of the measuring machine. All the sensors can be automatically changed and employed during the measurement routine without having to stop or change the measuring programme. One software for all sensors ? efficient and user-friendly to allow the operator to concentrate fully on the measurement application.

Too short at the back, too long at the front ? with 2D and 3D BestFit, you always get things right. Optimum integration of the measured actual data into the 2D target data dictated by DXF. This allows you to make optimum use of the tolerances. As an option, 3D formats such as CATIA, AutoCAD (DWG), 3DStudio (.3ds), Lightwave (.lwo), Step (.stp, .step), RawTriangles (.raw), STL (.stl), VDA (.vda), VRML (.vrml, .wrl), Wavefront (.obj), PDF (.pdf, .ai, .eps) and TXT (.txt) can also be processed. A BestFit is possible with both the 2D model sections obtained and with summarised control geometries and 3D free-form surfaces.
Paperless quality assurance

You?re sure to have heard of it, but have you seen it in reality? Automated reporting ensures documented quality with every measurement ? completely without paper! The results can be stored and further processed directly as PDF files via the network in the predefined server locations. These include:

An innovation should start with the first action ? not with the result. That is why SAPHIR QD measurement and analysis software can be intuitively operated and provides perfect measurement results with just a few clicks. Simply switch on the measurement device, load the object even without alignment or even the wrong way round ? and detection and measurement can start. The report is displayed as an overlay on the live image together with a graphic report.

Multiple measurements ? for all those who want everything at once

Whether multiple identical parts or multiple different parts: With the Multiple Measurement identical (MMI) and Multiple Measurement different (MMD), the developers at Schneider Messtechnik have now also integrated the option of multi-part measurement into SAPHIR QD. And the best of all: The software thinks with you. For this reason, the measurement elements can vary without additional intervention, the software scans all the parts in the measurement range. If a part is loaded for which a programme does not yet exist, the software nevertheless goes to work: Detect contour, create CAD drawing, carry out alignment ? measure. In short: SAPHIR QD identifies all the elements to be measured and integrates these into the measuring programme at a click. Measurement technology can be that fast!

Special features of SAPHIR QD
? Parts can even be loaded the wrong way round. The part is nevertheless recognised and the measurement performed.
? In addition to single-part measurement, the measurement of multiple identical parts at the same time is possible here (MMi=Multiple Measurement identical), as well as the simultaneous measurement of multiple non-identical parts (MMd=Multiple Measurement different).
? The software scans all the parts in the measurement range.No quantities have to be entered into the controller in advance.
? The contour is immediately detected, even if a part is loaded for which there is no existing program. The software aligns the workpiece automatically and saves the image from the measurement camera for part recognition.
? The measuring programme is automatically created as soon as the dimension arrows are moved to the relevant points of the DXF file.
? Alternatively, the software identifies all the elements to be measured independently with autodimensioning and integrates these automatically into the measuring programme.

Visual Tool Preset from Dr. Heinrich Schneider Messtechnik sets a new standard in tool presetting and was designed specially for the hardware of the STP 500 presetting device – and thereby optimised to the demands of modern tool setting down to the last detail. No matter what tool you are measuring and in what tool holder, the integrated adapter management for any tool holders makes you highly flexible and allows you to keep everything in your sights at all times. The creation and saving of new adapters is also quite simple and requires no nested menus.

Thanks to the intuitive, flat and self-explanatory software interface, anyone can become a "VTP professional" in a minimum of time! A reduced environment with large buttons makes the VTP software a completely native multi-touch application. If required, “classic” operation with mouse and keyboard is also possible.

Intelligent measuring functions and print output

All measurement functions are tailored to the practice of day-to-day tool presetting down to the last detail But the development didn’t stop with the familiar old measurement functions; it continued from here to make them even better and more intelligent:

Template comparison for angles and radii with overlays superimposed on the live image. During the measurement of geometric elements such as circles/radii or intersection points, the VTP software automatically searches for suitable edges in the live image and immediately displays the corresponding result. The manual input or selection of certain (sub-)measurement areas within the live image is possible at any time by simply touching and "dragging"; the software then takes only tool edges in this selected area into consideration in the analysis.

Label printing can be configured at random to match different label sizes and for printing of all printers installed in the operating system.
