Clamping devices with integrated, intelligent measurement technology

Chucks and mandrels with IQ take over the monitoring of production and make work processes easier. They make the transition to Industry 4.0, digitalization and IoT very easy.

Many different measurements and monitoring are possible thanks to the integrated sensor technology. The measurement data is sent directly to the machine controller and evaluated via contactless data and energy transmission. The control system performs a setpoint adjustment. If deviations occur, a message is issued or a correction is initiated.

Long-term monitoring is possible with the data obtained from the »condition monitoring«. This also ensures traceability in accordance with DIN EN 1550. Translated with DeepL

centroteX AC
  • centroteX AC interface for the automated change of pre-loaded chucks and mandrels
  • Change parts can be preloaded on the machine or separately outside the machine
  • can be used for machines with horizontal or vertical rotating spindle as well as stationary [BAZ, measuring machine, …]
  • Clamping center retraction via bayonet mechanism by means of mechanical actuator [e.g. screwing tool]
With our new AC [automated change] line, everything runs automatically!

We can rightly claim that we are professionals when it comes to changing clamping devices and world champions in fast ratcheting. Why? Because we have been working on reducing set-up times and quick changeovers for decades. Thousands of centroteX quick-change interfaces are being used successfully by our customers with micron-precision and are making huge savings every day.

However, even though our clamping solutions can be set up by hand in no time at all, the future lies in automation. With our TOPlus AC and SPANNTOP AC chucks, clamping heads and workpiece connections can be changed automatically. This is the basis for the automation of clamping processes and enables unmanned set-up and production of workpieces with different clamping diameters, clamping profiles and chuck depths.

For example, the spindle of a vertical lathe moves with the chuck over the combination of clamping head and stop to be changed, which is then reliably inserted into the chuck within seconds. This changing process can also be carried out by a robot or gantry on a horizontal lathe or machining center.

But what about changing complete clamping devices? Our tried-and-tested centroteX interfaces are certainly a good choice here. Changing by hand takes just 5 minutes. But the requirement of the future is a different one: automated and unmanned changing. This is where our centroteX AC solutions come into play, which are successfully used by our customers for the automatic changing of mandrels and chucks. We offer individual interfaces that make the customer's production completely flexible. Translated with DeepL

DockLock AC – the zero-point clamping system for automated production

Do you have a shortage of personnel, but need to process your orders, ideally 24/7? Then the DockLock AC zero-point clamping system in hydraulic or pneumatic design for automated fixture changes is perfect for you. With the quick-change clamping device system for the stationary area, you can change your clamping device automatically in two minutes. And with a repeat accuracy of ≤ 0.005 mm without alignment.

The design with the form-fit clamping and the force transmission are identical to the DockLock for manual r&d. In addition, it has a lock at the clamping point to protect it from dirt and chips. This ensures even less wear and tear and less maintenance. In addition, it has a support control, blow-off support islands and a piston position control for a safe automated process as standard. Automated clamping head and workpiece stop change
  • Standardized, cost-effective automation components that have been tried and tested over decades and can be used by the automation provider
  • Operator-free r&d and production of different clamping diameters and chuck depths
  • robust mechanics ensure smooth automated set-up processes using a robot or gantry
  • available in TOPlus and SPANNTOP versions
  • can also be used with machining centers and vertical lathes
Did you know that the classic manual clamping head change can also be carried out automatically using a robot, gantry or directly with the machine spindle? The great thing about this is that the workpiece stop is set up at the same time. Because setting a new workpiece diameter without a suitable stop depth would only be an incomplete set-up process.

The solution with a robot or gantry:

The robot gripper in the form of a pneumatic changing device removes the appropriate clamping head, including the workpiece, from the set-up magazine. The robot gripper in the form of a pneumatic changing device removes the appropriate clamping head including workpiece stop for the next workpiece to be machined and reliably sets up the chuck within seconds. Thanks to our sophisticated chuck mechanics, the workpiece to be machined can be clamped and machined immediately after the set-up process. The automation effort is minimal, but the machine flexibility is enormous. Translated with DeepL
