Since its foundation in May 1989, Sumitomo Hartmetallfabrik GmbH has been based in Lauchheim on Industriestarße.

As a member of the affiliated group of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Japan, over these 25 years the company has long since developed into a first-class and strongly innovative partner on the market for high precision tools for machining production. Alongside the production of these complex tools, the focus of the company’s activities is on the development of customised solutions for all machining requirements.
As a result of the company’s success, the production capacity has been expanded several times since the foundation of the company. In 2012, the production facilities were supplemented by a Technology and Development Centre, which is operated together with the parent company, Sumitomo Electric Hartmetall GmbH based in Willich in the Rhineland.

Right on time for the 25th company anniversary, together with its shareholders, Sumitomo Electric Hartmetallfabrik GmbH has now decided to again supplement the production capacity through the construction of an extension and the creation of new office and social space. The decision to build the extension can, on the other hand, also certainly be seen as a commitment to the production location Lauchheim.

On 2 December 2014 at the ground-breaking ceremony attended by Kunihiro Tomita, Member of the Board of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Japan, and Mr. Kowarsch, the Mayor of the town of Lauchheim, the starting signal was given for this expansion. The completion of the new building is planned for the end of 2015.

Staff and management are already looking forward to the new premises.
