The success of induction technology largely depends on the targeting accuracy, since only a precisely defined area of the component will actually be heated during the process. This accuracy allows the process to be both quick and economical. The precision of the technology also minimizes the distortion of the workpiece. Many industrial sectors have been reaping such benefits for decades—from mechanical and systems engineering to the automotive industry and toolmaking.
All components completely customizable
The configuration of the generator as the source of energy plays an important role since its components, such asoscillation circuit, inverter and inverter control unit, always need to be adapted to the used inductor and the required frequency. This requirement also applies to the standardized eldec generator seriesPICO, MICO and ECO. "Even with these devices, we need to customize the power technology", explainsDr. Harry Krötz, head of R&D Electrical Engineering at eldec. "However, with our Custom Line generators, virtually all components are assembled in a completely customizableway—from general device control to outputs and interfaces."
Free choice of power and frequency features
In principle, eldec is able tomodify the power and frequency features of the devices in virtually unlimited ways. The scope ranges from medium-frequency generators with 20 to 1,500 kW power and a frequency range from 8 to 40 kHz up to high-frequency generators with 20 to 1,500 kW power and frequency ranges from 80 to 400 kHz. In addition, each generator can befitted with single or multiple outputs, and can then distribute the available power in a flexible way to the connected inductors. This offers extensive possibilities to operate several tools in parallel or separately.
Established process for development and assembly
Another major customer benefit is the high degree of vertical integration at the Dornstetten site. All central components are configured on site, and assembled by hand. The sequence of steps, from first customer contact to delivery of the product, is clearly defined:First, Technical Sales will clarify the heating task with the customer. This may include preliminary tests in our in-house laboratory. After the quotation phase, there is a clarifying discussion with the development team about technical details. Based on the results of this discussion, the team will configure the technology and submit it to an endurance test after completion. The final step is the acceptance. This is when the customer is presented with an acceptable solution that is on target, effective and reliable.
