From September 21–25, 2026, the 14th CIRP Conference on Photonic Technologies (LANE 2026) will take place at the Heinrich‑Lades‑Hall in Erlangen. It is organized by the Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies and the Institute of Photonic Technologies at FAU Erlangen‑Nuremberg. The VDMA Working Group Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing is a partner of the event.
LANE 2026 provides an international platform for exchanging scientific results and industrial developments in photonics and laser material processing. Around 200 presentations, including high‑level keynotes and invited talks, will cover additive manufacturing, beam sources, laser‑assisted processes, cutting and drilling, welding, precision processing with short and ultrashort pulses, sensing, modelling, surface processing and forming. Special sessions will focus on e‑mobility applications, artificial intelligence and machine learning in laser‑based manufacturing, adaptive closed‑loop control and portable laser systems.
An accompanying exhibition enables companies to showcase their products and solutions to an international audience, with booth locations integrated into the break areas to encourage direct interaction between research and industry.
A diverse social program — including a casual reception, the traditional Ennoblement Ceremony of a new Knight of Laser Technology, and a lab tour with cocktail session — provides excellent networking opportunities.
Registration for participants and exhibitors is open until August 2026, with a 10 % discount for VDMA members. Further information and registration at:
