Japan Machine Tool Builder's Association Award at the 2013
The high-speed, high-precision horizontal machining center DMC 60 H linear won the Japan Machine Tool Builder's Association Award at the 2013 (43rd) Machine Design Award sponsored by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
The DMC 60 H linear is a high-speed, high-precision horizontal machining center designed for machining automobile engines and power train components.
The most distinctive features of this machine are linear drives and 5-axis machining by means of the swivel rotary table. The swivel rotary table, which can handle workpieces of up to φ800 x 800 mm with a maximum negative angle of -20°, allows machining of complex-shaped parts in one chucking.
Equipped with linear drives, the DMC 60 H linear achieves a rapid traverse rate of 100 m/min and an acceleration of 1 G, which significantly reduces setup time and machining lead time, and dramatically improves productivity. The machine also ensures a positioning accuracy of 4 μm and repeatability of 3 μm.
