    HuanYang VFD will not power up?

    (Huanyang GT series GT-4R0G-2 VFD)
    I have been using this setup for quite a few years now without issue. Head to the shop today to do a sign. Anchor the board, start the computer, control box, and VFD. I change the bit to surface the board and go to hit the start on the VFD. That is when I notice the panel is not illuminated. I check breakers and confirm they are not tripped and have power on both sides. Check power at the VFD and it is good as well.
    Last used was not more than a week ago without issue. I don't think there is a reset button on these either.
    What I think may have happened is when I last used the machine and shut it down, I did not switch off the power supply to the VFD. The VFD was stopped but may have had the power left on. I'm guessing there was a power outage which would have affected the shop but not the house as it is powered by solar. Reading many pages on this forum, I found one item posted by Mactec54 which sounds like my issue, kinda....

    "You can't use a Plug to Turn the Power 0FF to the VFD Drive this is a big No as this will damage the VFD Drive

    It must be switched 0FF before you unplug it, meaning the outlet / receptacle has to have a switch to turn the power to the VFD Drive 0ff before you can unplug it, this can be done also with the Breaker for that circuit, Never unplug when it is Powered up

    Same goes for Powering it up, if you are Plugging it in then the Power must be 0FF before you Plug it in, you then can Switch / Turn it 0N"

    Not that I am using a plug to control power but "if" I left the power supply on, and the power went out... Kinda the same thing?
    Any input on this? I can't seem to get the display to power up. If no resolution, I plan on replacing the vfd with like kind as it served me well until now.
    Thanks,

    Turn off the breaker, wait 5 minutes.
    Some VFDs have capacitors that need to fully discharge before a reset can internally reinitialize.

    cncmakers001,
    Thanks for the reply. I did try that even off over night. Have read the manual and do not see anything about a reset / trip button. Still stuck with nothing happening. I have ordered another vfd, and am searching for the settings.
    Mine is a GT series VFD. Any suggestions?

    Re: HuanYang VFD will not power up?

    The replacement VFD is scheduled to arrive next Wednesday and I have scoured this forum for the source of information as this is where I got the original settings from but have no luck. Today I went to the shop again to look through my papers in a effort to find the settings I had used. I found one set but that was for a different VFD. Then I found another list and I think it corresponds with the manual of the existing VFD.
    If anyone has info that will confirm or deny this please advise...
    P0.00=1
    P0.01=0
    P0.02=3
    P0.03=400
    P0.04=400
    P0.05=150
    P0.06=400
    P0.11=10 Acc
    P0.12-10 Dec
    P0.14=6
    P0.17 (1 to Restore to factory Defaults)(2 to clear faults)
    P1.01=10
    P1.02=0

    P2.01-2.2 (Motor Settings)
    P2.02=400
    P2.03=24000
    P2.04=220
    P2.05=8.5

    Then do an autotune.

    The spindle is:
    2.2KW 220V
    8.5A 400 HZ

    As you may tell, I'm a bit nervous as I'd rather not fry another VFD or the spindle.
    If anyone can lead me to this setup, that would be great. As I have looked through the entire thread on VFD setting here including my posts there form years past but my post were for the older spindle not the GT series which I have run now for about eight years until it stopped working.
    Thanks for the help,
    RA
