    Tormach? Sieg? Please advice

    Hi all,

I currently own a OmiaCNC 800L cnc mill.
Had lots of trouble with the machine and their lack of costumer service.
I use it to machine aluminium parts. Works fine...but not perfect. I want to buy something more professional.
The machine is also lacks working space in the Y axis.

So I was looking for some alternatives.

    Tormach 440
Seems a decent machine. Made in China if I may believe some posts (what's not made in china?)
    Good costumer support
Good for semi-professional cnc aluminium machining.
negative: shipping from US to Europe

    Sieg KX3
    Also China stuff
But some videos on youtube show a decent result of some aluminium machining.

I'm curious of someone else has some recommendations?
    I'm from Europe.

I guess you are looking for something alternative.
Sản phẩm - Máy cnc warior 3040 Maybe you can consider this one. It's Vietnamese made machine. They use Chinese 24000 RPM spindle (Ugly compared to the machine frame but It can be optional) High speed spindle will be more productive.
Sản phẩm - Máy phay, khắc CNC warrior 2030 Here is the video of 2030 (200x300mm).

    Thanks for the links
    I also come across skyfire.
Looks like decent machines (linear bearings etc)
    http://www.skyfirecnc.com/picshow.asp?id=35
    Any experience with those?

The owner of the company is Tkamsker, a regular here on the forum. He would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about them. I know the design of his machines are based on a tried and trued platform. They have a relatively large work envelope and are priced almost as competetively as importing a Tormach to Europe. Keep in mind the castings are made in Austria and not China. Same with his electronics. Top quality Mitsubishi spindle motor and lots of other options.
I only suggested Thojomech as it is local to European markets. If you have your heart set on cheap Chinese hardware, then that is predetermined, right?
It's up to you, support your local machine builder or do like most hobbyist's here and go with cheap.
I can't really add much else.

I will send them an email for some more information
I prefer to buy a machine in Europe.
Had very bad experiences with suppliers in China.

Still don't know what to buy

I'm in doubt between a PCNC770 from Tormach or a Skyfire VMS-1S CNC

Skyfire machine got way better specs, lineaire rails, closed loop stepperdrivers.
But there is not much to find about the quality and experiences. There are a couple of videos on youtube, but they don't convice me for Aluminium machining.
The 770 on the other hand has lots of good quality videos (nycnc for example). But it has such a low spec compared to Skyfire.
