Can someone PLEASE help me understand why the heck that, after the first touch, the Z doesn't go up .05" but instead, goes all the way to the upper hardstop!!! once it hits it looks like it's going back down to touch again but gives up and errors.

home swtiches are at the "high" sides so, all my machine co-ords are negative numbers.

No, there's no noise on the lines (watchout, I have a scope and I know how to use it)


been using the machine for weeks successfully with plain-vanilla Mach3, just switched to 2010 and now having this problem road-blocking me.

My guess would be that the Galil plugin doesn't support probing properly. I've seen similar issues with some Chinese motion controllers.

Unfortunately, yes.
The only issues that I'm aware of with the auto zero in the 2010 Screenset are due to motion controller plugins that don't support G31 probing properly.
Very few people use Galil cards, and I have no idea what Mach3 functions it supports.
