    New lathe, help identify

I just bought a lathe that is no longer being used at our workplace. It is 9"\40" more or less (probably metric). It is an engine lathe but all the markings are in Asian except the dials that are in inch. The Threading is all indicated in inch as are the speeds and feeds. It probably weighs about 1500+ pounds, and has a follower and steady rest as well as 3 and 4 jaw chucks. An Asian lady at work told me the markings were Japanese but that is all I know.It has been at work for 30 years and they bought it used but it is modern in appearance. I will post some pics when I am at the shop were it is being stored next time.
    Thanks

If it is Japanese, you most likely going to get a much better quality machine than most made in the R.O.C.

I have used it quite a bit over the years and it is a very good machine. The only problem it has is the lead screw needs replacing due to an "accident" that happened a few years back, (it is okay if you only have to thread small sections). I have searched high and low on the net and the only thing that looks close is a Takisawa lathe. Not that it really matters, but I would like to know.
