How quickly does threaded rod wear out?

I'm using cheap threaded rod on my little desktop CNC and I've been having accuracy issues. I'm wondering if perhaps the threaded rod has worn out enough to be causing problems..

How quickly do you think regular threaded rod will wear out and need to be replaced?

Hi, do you think it is getting worse, or are you personally just getting better ?

It is surprising just how much we have all come to think of our every day products as being adquate, and then when we start to dig in, even our normal measuring tools are pretty mediocre.

My guess is that the nut is more likely worn than the rod, but if you want a real improvement in results, consider a precision ground, multi start acme screw. McMaster and others sell them.

I'm not really sure if it's getting worse or not. It's possible that it's a problem with the software or stepper motor controllers, but I was just curious if anyone knew how quickly the threaded rod would wear out..
