Can a semi-machined part be used as a Stock Definition? V26

I want to do some tooling operations in various orientations. I would like to have the first op use a "block" of material as the stock. The second operations I would like the stock to start as the "block" but with the first op machining operations material removed. For the third operation I would like the stock to start as the "block" but with the first two ops of machining operations material removed. Can this be done (easily)?

If you can draw it, you can use it as stock, in a nutshell. The basic geometry that you used to machine the operation can be used to draw the resulting piece of stock. You then set that as stock for the next operation, which you can by then easily draw, and so on. BobCAD gives control of the stock to the user. Enough control to get them into trouble, at least.

Right, I know I can use a solid model as stock, but my first operation is an equidistant offset with a Lollipop tool, and I don't know if I can simulate that in the solid... Though as I think about it now, I can... Just "boolean add" the stock to the part file, and fillet the bottom with the radius of the cutter... That will at least get me close for now!

You can export the remaining stock after machine simulation as an STL, then use the STL define stock for a new operation. The export is done from within the simulator. If you can't find it, I could post a video tomorrow, but busy coaching kids hockey tonight.

I thought that was for Pro only ? At any rate, you not be able to use the .STL for any tool pathing, correct? You would have to do layers with drawn geometry,I think ???

PERFECT! You can open the STL file and translate/rotate to put in the the right position PRIOR to using it as stock (can't move the stock, it comes in at the STL location and is not moveable).

machine set-up/r click/edit you then have the option to pick origin or enter origin. Can define an UCS also

If I were to be using that properly, I probably wouldn't need to redefine the stock. Thanks - another thread I need to work on!!! NO MORE new ideas for today, OK? ; )
