    Tormach 4 axis?

Does anyone know if you could change the stepper motor to a servo type motor on the 4th axis from Tormach? The price is good on these 4th axis used servo driven models are $3k and up. I have been considering buying a Tormach PCNC 1100 but I am leaning towards a used bed mill and I have a need for a 4th axis the Trak Mill I am looking at has a 4th axis driver but it is for a servo type motor with a 5 volt output and return.

    Thanks Mike

I don't see any reason why a servo could not be used in place of the stepper. The stepper is a NEMA34, so a NEMA34 servo should bolt right on.

The more I look into this the more I think it may work according to the data sheet the worm gear is 90:1 and the RPM of the table is 5 aprox. If I figure this right that means I need a 450 RPM servo motor with a nema 34 frame. I will check with Tormach just in case they offer it with a servo motor.

    Thanks Mike
