Red face Inputs 1-4 Gecko G 540 Stepper controller

    Hi forum,

i want to pass this by people for a sanity check.

Looking to install homing switches on my Sherline CNC mill 3AX- with Gecko 540 drives / under mach 3.

from reading i can utilise switches on inputs 1-4 and ground to 12 - seems straight forward, however for the uninitiated I seeks some clarification/s:

    1. With 4 inputsI assume 3 x homes (XYZ) and a tool auto z is possible?
    2. I assume there is a voltage from inputs 1-4 (if so what is the voltage ?)
    3. The switch circuit for homing is base on a open until closed or closed until open?
    4. Recommendation -- Auto tool Z: is is best to set a location XY where on tool change the mill can move to to Auto Z (any one done this on sherline?) or have a mobile version (is placed to auto Z ) looking for input here?

    regards

    1) You can wire all the switches to one input if you like, to save inputs for future use.
    2) Not sure.
    3) Depends on the switches used.
    4) You usually need to set zero at the top of the part, so a mobile version is usually the way to go, but it also depends on your methods of working.
