    Taig Couplers

Had a bind up today and twisted off the nylon tubes in the coupler of the z-axis. I know I have seen that tube somewhere before in bulk, but I can't think of it. Anybody? I have a job I need to finish so I'm hoping its something common I can pick up in the morning.

I guess I can turn some delrin in the mini lathe, but I hate to waste my meager stock of delrin on stuff like that.

Home Depot might have something similar in the plumbing dept. Another option to get you going might be to take a ball point pen apart and use the ink tube.

    Taig Couplings

I had a similar problem with my Taig mill and called Micro Proto support. They told me to use the tube from a ball point pen refill.

I think I remembered what that nylon tube is. Air lines like used on pneumatic shocks between the shrader valve and the shock when it has a remote mounted schrader valve. Harley's use it on many of the ElectraGlide models if I recall. They use black tube I think, but I have seen other applications using clear tube also.

I stopped by Bingham Autoparts (Carquest) on the way back to the shop from doing a service call, and asked if they had any of that air line. They had it in black, and just gave me a foot of it. Seems like a perfect fit. The little Taig is back up and running.

Well, I've got about 25 hours run time on the "air line" pins with no problems.
