    Co2 laser cutter eye safety

    Hi my first post :-)
We have just bought a Chinese Co2 laser cutter with 2 lasers 1 on 80 wat and the others is on 150 wat.
Do you think the windows in the machine is thick enough to protect your eyes when they let is closed ?
It's very difficult not to look at the lasers cutting point Sometime, would it be dangerous for your eyes ?
How sharp is the light, sharp enough to get welding eyes ?

    Thanks in advanced regards Isak

Sorry if we are ask some stupid questions but we are very new to laser cutting, and we a little bit afraid of all the laser power... Hope you can help some newbies.
We have read a lot of posts... And it almost sounds like if laiser don't burn hole in the case of the machine, or some cheap safety glasses there will be no danger, Is it really how it is ?

Most lasers the cover lids are protection enough as the wave length put off from the laser can't pass thru the cover. But its not advised to look at the beam when cutting as its very bright and can still cause eye damage if you stare at it for a long time.

    Hi Harvid,
you must close the cover when the machine is working. and the windows is transparent, you can see the processing path while it's cutting or engraving.
you mean you want to look at the lasers cutting or look at the laser beam through eyes directly(it is a dangerous behavior)?
the laser beam can't through the cover if you close it when it is working, and the windows is tempered glass? if yes, even though there is a accident, you still have enough time to avoid it.

but if you are only afraid that the material(wood, acrylic, fabric etc) will catch fire while it is cutting, you can install a heat alarm detector on the machine, it will remind you(loud voice) when the temperature raise suddenly.
