Hi all

where is the best place to get ballscrews? Ill need one shaft with custom ends machined on it. Also I'm in Brisbane Australia. I have heard of people talking about a guy named Chai?

Have you had experience with his ball nuts for how much backlash they have?

Yes lots of experience.
The single nuts (SUF) that get around .001-.003 backlash which can be lessened with repacking with larger balls.

Didnt know he had the double nuts, might have to go through him now. He doesn't advertise on the Australian ebay any more but you can still order them through the American ebay, from what i can find they are still grate value for the tolerances you get.

Hoss the doublenut ballscrews you got from linermotionbearings2008, did you get them with over size balls or are they standard ball?

You can't order them with oversize balls, they are packed as is to give the least backlash. They are doublenuts, the backlash is reduced by the spacer thickness between the 2 nuts forcing the nuts away from each other. Just like with other double nut setups that use a spring of some sort forcing the nuts apart, using oversize balls gains you nothing.

I've heard that Fred at BST has better products and better pricing than Chai.
Haven't personally used him, though.
