    911 Ram parity high error

    Hi!

    I have an old Cortini Bf400 mill with Fanuc 0m-B controller that has been sitting in a warehouse for a couple of years. Now I've tried to start up the machine but get the 911 alarm. One can guess that the backup batteries are long gone but the problem is that I can't reset the memory. Something is really wrong with the machine. I have attached a photo of the screen and it doesn't look healthy. Anyone who has any suggestions?

    Hope someone can help me solve this problem.

    /Anton

    Did you try to turn the control ON with RESET and DELETE pressed? You may have a hardware problem on the masterboard.

    Yes I've tried that . The thing is that before the machine went in to storage in the warehouse, it might have been a victim of a high voltage pulse due to a lightning that struck in the electrical grid system. So my concern is it the main board or can it be some other component that causing this alarm? Power supply?
    The cost of get a refurbished A16B-1010-285 main board doesn't justifies, due to the value of the machine.
    It's a great little machine, built fairly tough, perfect for small jobs in the home garage. But there are better machines out there. And retrofit another system to the machine isn't cheap or easy due to the red cap ac servos.

    Only YOU can decide on the financial viability of retrofit/repair. The lowest price on Ebay for a A16B-1010-0285 is US$550.00 + $40 shipping.
    The NMI may be caused by a board that is plugged into the motherboard.

    $550 plus shipping is a affordable price for a main board. I have seen prices around $2000-3000.
    I have tried unplugging servo controller boards to see if it makes any difference, but no luck.
    I have also disassembled the power supply to check after broken caps but everything looks fine.
    So most likely is the main board the culprit.

    You may also have to unplug a ROM/RAM board, if present.
    If this doesn't make a difference, remove the 4 large and 2 small memory chips (located on the top-center of the master board under the 'Made in Japan FANUC' label). Then initialise the control to see if that makes a difference.

    Do you know the difference between a A16B-1010-285 and a A16B-1010-286 card? I have access to a mecanical broken lathe with 286 card. Is it possible to use that card or is it totally different?

    ===Compatibility===
    A16B-1010-0280 -> A16B-1010-0285 + (A16B-1211-0331) + SERVO SOFT
    A16B-1010-0281 -> A16B-1010-0286 + SERVO SOFTWARE

    the A16B-1010-0286 is compatible only with the mainbaird A16B-1010-0281

    But now I'm confused, isn't the A16B-1010-286 the main board?

    Now when I look at the board I see that the board is missing the additional memory chips.... It only have the soldered sram chips.

    This is the type number of the both controllers.

    The main board is A16B-1010-028X, where X = 0,1,5 or 6. The last digit indicated how the board is populated; in your case I don't think that the -5 is compatible with the -6 version.

    The NMI is more worrisome.

    But is there some way to decode the NMI binary? Or doesn't it tell anything usable?

    Maybe Fanuc can, but I can't.
