It is as simple as swapping out the controller. Which is a desk top computer with all the software loaded on it.

Trivial. Buy the Tormach controller, plug it in (<$1K). If you'd rather spend time instead of money, get a Mesa card & the PP release CD, DIY on a current controller (half the cost or less, how easy that is depends on your skill level, but a well documented path). Didn't do that myself, my old M3 controller was more than 10 years old, so I just replaced.

There's a fairly short (again, well documented) learning curve for PP.

Installing the PP Mesa card and software took me less than 30 minutes. Quite straightforward.

Anybody reading this thread that wants to buy the PDB/4th axis please speak up...I can't afford the CNC total package, so if someone else is willing to buy those two accessories that would be awesome and I could get started with my first CNC!
