    2.4kw 4pole 334hz iso20 er20 spindle wiring

    Hi guys

I have a 10 000rpm 2.4kw 4pole 334hz iso20 er20 water cooled 80mm spindle. It was bought as used. This spindle has 5 wires coming out of it 3 thick wires I'm assuming this is the three phase's for connecting to the vfd and 2 thin wires not sure what that's for? I have a ali Express 2.2kw vfd 400hz. See pics of spindle.

Q1: Does anyone know what type or make of spindle this is? And maybe a spec sheet or torque graph?

Q2: what are the 2 thin wires for? Maybe a built in thermistor for temp reading?

Q3: will my vfd work on this?

    HI,
I suspect the thin wire are are 'tool present' switch. Its quite common for ATC spindles to have a switch to detect whether a tool holder is fitted.

Measure the resistance, if its a modest to high resistance, say 1kOhm or so than its likely a thremistor. If its open circuit without a tool present or a short with a tool present
then its a 'tool present' switch

The other possibility is a thermal detector buried in the windings, particularly if water cooled.
e.g. Should the cooling fail etc.
Typically it would show as short circuit (0 oms).
