    840D roughing cycle

    Hi Guys

We have just had one of our turning machines that had an old 810T control on it retro fitted with a new 840D. On the new controller, when you are running a roughing cycle the actual position displayed on the screen does not include the roughing stock allowance. IE, if you have programmed to rough the face of a job down to Z0 but leave 0.5mm on the face for finishing later, when you run this, the final roughing cut will show on the display as cutting at Z0 even though it is actually Z+0.5mm. This is really annoying and I am wondering if their is maybe a parameter that we can change to make it display its actual position?

maybe you need to reference the z axis, because for example you have a fixture and is defined roughing and measure with any measuring equipment geometry and this is not right, if you do not want to do it directly in the program you can do right through a offset or a reference axis
