    Is Post Haste worth it??

    Hello...

Long story short... GibbsCAM is looking to charge $75 an hour to modify posts even after the initial $500 to purchase the post, even while on maintenance!!! New policy I was told. Sounds like a scam to make more money off of their customers. Sell me a bad post and pay to have it fixed... I really and a big fan of Gibbs but this new policy is straight up B.S.!!!

I am looking into purchasing several posthaste upgrades for milling and mill/turning.

    Is PostHaste worth buying??

How much more to the story is there? I just talked to my reseller who has heard nothing about this, nor have any of his costomers. What kind of mods are you requesting?

Basic formatting and couple small mods. This is a post we purchased 4-6 months ago. Maybe its a west coast thing... I have submitted a couple post changes recently. One was more extensive and another quite minor in my opinion. They have never come back to me looking for more money even with major changes. This is a recent event. I have followed up after a couple days and I have gotten an email response to contact my reseller 3 times now.

Submit a post change and see what happens. I am very curious to see what others are experiencing.

Basic format changes for comments and beginning of operations after tool change. Also a change from a single line G76 to a double G76 line. I am being told that is a 3 hour fix and they want to charge us. Hard to believe, but I am not a ComPost developer.

They have done changes for me that were not so basic in the past so I don't get why this one requires extra money.

    Anyway...
    Happy New Year!!

    Hello.

I've use Posthaste for Gibbs 2007, 3 axis mill, and it's rather limited in my opinion.

It would post serval parts uising the Work offset method (G54,G55, ect) and equlaly spaced if needed. You could edit Tool change cycles, Program Stops, and tool comments. Sub programing was limited as well.

I biggest thing I didn't like, is I had a issue where Gibbs wouldn't cancel Cutter Comp after every peck, only for the last peck for the Contour, witch could be very problem matic. I only was able to find one post out of the 15 or so standard post for HAAS VF mill that they had gave us that would cancel the Comp correctly. It seemed to me PostHaste did not have a function to be able to get around this.

If you do go with post haste, make sure you get a 30-trail so you know it will work for you.

I do like Gibbs Software, but you would think after spending all the $$$ on it, they could give you a few baisc post for your machines. Or at least include X# of hours of post edit work with your maintenance. All standard post I used with Gibbs needed editing of some type to make it work decent. You would think a standard Haas VF post or even a Fanuc OM can't be to hard to do.
