    Hi there

Hi all, I'm new to this board and I'm not sure where to post this question but perhaps somebody here could give me a bit of direction.

I was referred here after posting my project on a newsgroup. My project being this:

Basically, I'd like to setup some type of X-Y plotter in my department(math/science) of the small university I'm attending that will plot a fractal as people randomly enter input (If I could get Sierpinski's Triangle to work, I'd be happy). Unfortunately I know very little about plotters and electrical engineering in general.

So far I've figured out that I will need some type of program controller for whichever plotter I intend to use and it appears that I will need to jury-rig some extra buttons onto it so that random people can enter their input without messing up the system.

I'm going to look around town to see if I can locate an old plotter(preferrably free) to tinker with so that I will have a better idea of what I'm dealing with.

Presently, I'm an undergrad math major and I tinker around in programming and computers occasionally. I've never delved into robotics so I'm pretty much in the dark here.

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to use a plotter? Why not simulate a plotter with a moving dot on the screen? Then print it out when you are done.

I was thinking about that, but it seemed like a real-time physical plot would draw more interest than a virtual plot.
