Hello all,
First time using the forum and am looking for advice above all things. Situation is as follows: I have the option between the Little Machine Shop 3990 and the Grizzly G0704 as an entry milling machine. I would like to able to cut aluminum and take smaller cuts in soft steels when necessary. Furthermore, I'd like to in the future upgrade the machine to be 3 axis CNC capable. I am space limited so a larger knee mill is not an option and I don't want a gantry machine as I'd like to be able to hold tight-ish tolerances for the price category when necessary. I've been told the G0704 has a large community surrounding CNC conversion; however, in 2025 it seems to be rather dwindled. I am leaning toward the G0704 because it seems to be the better option, but as I mentioned, it seems support has dwindled and the Little Machine Shop seems to have solved alot of the problems with the mini mills on the market with things like belt drive and a solid z-column at a lower price. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
